Advantages of steam rooms

A steam room is generally built like a shower and made to produce large amounts of steam, creating a  high-humidity environment. The temperature inside a steam room is usually maintained at 95 degrees Fahrenheit and higher.  The humidity is maintained around 100%. This high temperature and humidity offer many great benefits to your body.

While in hot and humid environments, your body will try to adapt by increasing its internal temerature. Like in saunas, steam rooms create an “induced fever”.   This provides us with many advantages. One of the best advantages is that this increases the size of our blood vessels, making our heart beat faster.  This increases our blood-flow and induces sweating.

This sweat will flush a lot of bad things like toxins and heavy metals out of your body.  Sweating also cleanses and hydrates your skin.  It can also reduce cellulite.   One final benefit to sweating  is weight loss. The sweating process inside the steam rooms can also help you to deep clean and hydrate your skin. This process can also help you to reduce your cellulite

Along with the increase in temperature, your body will enjoy an increased immune system. As you already know, our body work best at 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. When our body temperature increases, bacteria’s and organisms that come from outside are unable to withstand the heat and slowly die. Although not all bacteria dies, the number becomes smaller allowing your body to fight them at normal body temperatures once you leave the steam room.

Another advantages of using a steam room is improved breathing. The heat and moist steam open your airways. If you are suffering from sinus problems, spending time in the steam room will reduce open your sinuses and make you more comfortable. Also, the moist air keeps your mucous membranes from drying-out. This kind of therapy is also excellent if you have a cough, asthma, or other throat or sinus-related symptoms.

Using the steam room can also help us to feel relaxed. Not only your mind relaxes, but of course your muscles do as well.

Using a steam room is recommended  post-exercise.  Be aware that hydrating yourself is animportant step to steam shower or using a sauna due to the body‘s loss of water. Drink plenty of water before and after you use a sauna or steam room, even if you don’t feel thirsty.  This is an important step to an enjoyable steam shower or sauna bath!
